Overview

The HaseMed Sickness Bag 1500 ml with Spout is a high-capacity, single-use emesis bag built for fast, hygienic containment of vomit, saliva and gastric fluids in clinical, pre-hospital and travel settings. A rigid plastic spout collar keeps the opening wide and stable for accurate use, while the leak-proof polyethylene pouch and integrated external scale support clean handling and quick documentation of output volumes.

Designed for hospitals, ambulance services, chemotherapy and dialysis units, post-operative recovery areas, care homes and cabin crews, the 1500 ml capacity provides a generous reserve so staff and patients are not forced to change bags during acute episodes. After use the bag is twisted shut below the collar and the ring is folded over to seal odours and contents for discreet disposal.

Highlights & Benefits

  • 1500 ml high-capacity reservoir: Generous volume handles sustained or severe nausea without mid-episode bag changes, reducing spill risk and staff intervention.
  • Rigid spout collar (approx. 12 cm diameter): Wide, shape-stable opening keeps the mouthpiece open hands-free and makes it easier to position for seated, lying or mobile patients.
  • Leak-proof PE construction: Tear-resistant polyethylene body with welded seams contains aqueous and viscous contents reliably for transport and disposal.
  • External graduated scale: Printed volume markings on a semi-transparent panel allow quick visual measurement of emesis output for nursing charts and fluid balance.
  • Twist-and-fold odour seal: Twisting the bag below the collar and flipping the ring creates a discreet, odour-locking closure before disposal.
  • Compact length (approx. 37 cm): Fits into procedure trolleys, airway kits, ambulance grab bags, seat pockets and bedside drawers; can be held by the patient or hung from a bed rail.
  • Single-use and hygienic: Sterile-clean, disposable format reduces cross-contamination risk in multi-patient environments.

Clinical & Professional Use Cases

  • Hospital wards and emergency departments: Triage, observation and pre-operative areas where nausea and vomiting must be contained quickly and measured for clinical records.
  • Oncology and chemotherapy suites: Reliable containment for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), with a wide collar that reduces patient effort during treatment sessions.
  • Dialysis and infusion clinics: On-hand support for treatment-related nausea and hypotensive episodes without interrupting therapy.
  • Post-anaesthesia care units (PACU): Manages post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in recovery bays where patients may still be drowsy or immobile.
  • Ambulance and patient transport: Stable spout and leak-proof body perform well in moving vehicles, helicopters and stair chairs.
  • Cabin crew and airline medical kits: High-capacity alternative to standard airsickness bags for severe motion sickness or in-flight medical incidents.
  • Care homes and home nursing: Discreet bedside and wheelchair support for elderly patients, palliative care and gastroenteritis episodes.
  • Maternity and antenatal care: Practical aid for hyperemesis gravidarum and general pregnancy-related nausea in clinic and at home.

Application

Keep the sickness bag within reach of the patient. At the first sign of nausea, open the rigid collar ring so the spout holds its circular shape, then place it over the mouth with the bag hanging downward. The patient can hold the bag themselves or a caregiver can support it; on a bed or chair the collar can also be hooked over a rail.

  • Prepare: Open the spout collar and check that the bag hangs freely without kinks.
  • Use: Position the collar over the mouth and support the bag until the episode ends.
  • Measure: Read the volume from the external scale and record output on the fluid balance chart.
  • Seal: Twist the bag tightly just below the collar and fold the rigid ring down over the twist to lock in contents and odour.
  • Dispose: Discard as clinical or household waste according to local protocols.

Important Notes

Single-use device; do not reuse or attempt to clean and redeploy. Inspect the bag and collar before use and discard any unit with visible damage. Keep the bag clear of sharp objects to preserve the leak-proof seal. Not a substitute for medical assessment of persistent or severe vomiting - escalate symptoms such as dehydration, blood in emesis or repeated episodes to a clinician.
