Overview
The HaseMed Reusable Hot/Cold Compress in blue, 9 x 16 cm, is the smallest size in the HaseMed gel compress range and is purpose-built for precision therapy on small anatomical areas. Its narrow, finger-friendly footprint wraps cleanly around knuckles, wrists, temples, the jaw (TMJ), the bridge of the nose and the Achilles, where larger pads simply overshoot the target. Use it cold to calm acute swelling and bruising, or warm to loosen localised tension and ease chronic stiffness. The flexible gel core, hygienic blue outer film and leak-resistant construction make it a practical reusable thermotherapy tool for clinics, sports bags, first-aid kits and family medicine cabinets.
Why choose the 9 x 16 cm size
Within the HaseMed compress family, the 9 x 16 cm variant is the dedicated pick for narrow, high-mobility areas. Where a 13 x 14 cm or 12 x 29 cm pad would bulk around small joints, this compact size sits flush against the skin and stays in place during movement. Typical applications include:
- Fingers and thumbs: trigger finger flare-ups, sprains, post-surgical swelling, arthritic flares in interphalangeal joints.
- Wrist and carpal area: carpal tunnel discomfort, tendinitis, sprains and post-cast stiffness.
- Temples and forehead: tension headaches, migraine cool-down, sinus pressure relief with warm application.
- Jaw and TMJ: bruxism-related tension, post-dental procedure swelling, TMJ dysfunction.
- Nose and cheekbones: post-rhinoplasty cooling, impact bruising, sinus congestion.
- Achilles, ankle bones and small ligaments: overuse strains, malleolar bruises, insertional tendinopathy.
- Insect bites and minor burns: rapid, localised cooling without chilling surrounding tissue.
Highlights and benefits
- Dual thermotherapy: a single compress delivers both cryotherapy for acute injuries and heat therapy for muscle relaxation and circulation support.
- Compact precision format: the 9 x 16 cm footprint covers the target area without wasted surface, ideal for small joints and facial application.
- Flexible gel core: the gel stays pliable even after hours in the freezer so the compress moulds to knuckles, the wrist crease and the jawline.
- Even temperature distribution: consistent cold or warmth across the contact surface, with no hot spots or pressure points.
- Leak-resistant construction: a robust, welded outer film protects against punctures and seepage during routine clinical use.
- Fast turnaround: ready for cold therapy after 2 hours in the freezer, or for warm therapy in roughly 10 seconds at 700 W in the microwave.
- Hygienic blue shell: instantly identifiable in a busy practice, sports bag or shared first-aid kit.
- Reusable and economical: built for repeat treatment cycles, reducing single-use waste compared to instant cold packs.
Use cases for professionals and households
- Hand therapy and orthopaedics: post-op swelling management after hand, wrist or finger surgery; support for rheumatoid and osteoarthritic flares.
- Dental and maxillofacial care: targeted cooling after extractions, implants or wisdom tooth surgery to reduce cheek and jaw swelling.
- Physiotherapy and sports medicine: localised cryotherapy for epicondylitis, De Quervain's tenosynovitis, wrist sprains and Achilles overload.
- General practice: on-demand compress for minor trauma, insect reactions, headaches and low-grade inflammation during consultations.
- Home recovery: an easy, reusable solution parents and patients can apply to small injuries without bulky wraps.
- Office and ergonomics: quick wrist and temple relief for users managing repetitive strain, screen fatigue or tension headaches.
How to use
Always wrap the compress in a thin cloth before placing it on the skin. A typical application lasts 15 to 20 minutes and can be repeated several times per day as needed.
- Cold therapy: place the compress in the freezer at approximately -18 °C for at least 2 hours. It remains flexible and mouldable even when fully chilled.
- Warm therapy (microwave): heat at around 700 W for approximately 10 seconds. Always follow the microwave manufacturer's guidance and warm in short intervals, checking the temperature before applying.
- Warm therapy (hot water): immerse in water of up to 80 °C for about 4 minutes, then dry the outer film before use.
- Contact time: 15 to 20 minutes per application, with a cloth barrier between skin and compress at all times.
- After use: wipe the outer film with a mild cleaning agent, allow to air dry, and store ready for the next treatment cycle.
Available pack sizes
- 1 piece
- 2 pieces
- 5 pieces
- 10 pieces
- 50 pieces (practice pack)
Safety notes
Always use a cloth layer between the skin and the compress to avoid cold burns or heat injury. Do not apply to broken, irritated or sensitive skin, and do not use on areas with impaired circulation or reduced sensation without medical advice. Never pierce, cut or wring out the compress, and do not overheat: warm in short intervals and check the temperature before each application. Keep out of reach of children and supervise use on minors. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare professional.
